Bush Pilot Coat
This men’s jacket style was worn by pilots who flew the 1929 Travelair 6000B, a wooden-framed, fabric-covered single-prop plane first used to fly supplies to homesteaders in Idaho’s Selway-Bitterroot Mountains. The pilots chose the bush jacket to fend off the cold mountain air that seeped into the plane and to permit themselves a range of motion in the cockpit.
